First and foremost, relax on your bike and enjoy the ride. It’s your tour leader’s responsibility to look out for all of you. Of course, that’s easy with small groups and gets more challenging when groups are getting larger. Your tour leader won’t leave you behind if for example you get caught by a red traffic light. Know that will be good – relax and have fun. If you’re bringing up the rear and get caught behind traffic or at a set of traffic lights, the leader will find a safe spot and to pull over where he and the rest of the group will wait for you.
When riding in groups we use the “staggered” or zig-zag formation and never ride in a straight line. This not only gives the tour leader (and the rest of the group) a better view of what’s ahead and behind the group, it also allows the rider behind you to see further ahead than just your bike. This is critical in an emergency. Thus, always ensure enough space between the respective motorcycles!
