South Africa has an excellent private health care system with a good supporting infrastructure all over the country. In the case of any medical emergency while you are on tour, the first port of call will be a private health care facility. If this is not available, then we make use of the nearest state medical care facility. In most cases these are not on the same level as the private facilities, but in an emergency, you will get the required care. Arrangements will be made to take a patient to the nearest private facility when convenient. To avoid delays in your treatment, please always carry with you the medical or travel insurance details, and also let your guide have copies. You are personally responsible for taking out this cover before the tour.
