On our unassisted tours, every motorcycle comes fitted with a lockable top case and side panniers. We generally use standard BMW luggage systems, which are preferred by most of the rental agencies, but some renters do tend to use other brands. It is important to note that these cases come without any inner bags. You will have to provide your own bags or inners, an option which we recommended. It is easier to remove the inners or bags you need when you arrive at an overnight stop rather than having to remove and unpack the entire bulky case every night. Nowadays we find that most supermarket groups sell durable grocery bags which perfectly doubles as pannier inners.
